  • Why Should I Join Local 30?

If you are presently involved with or are thinking of getting involved with Professional Theatre or entertainment in Central Indiana, you owe it to yourself to check out Local 30.  We have been the "guys and gals in black" behind the scenes at almost any professional theatrical presentation and the majority of the professional musical productions in Central Indiana for over 120 years.

If you are just starting in the industry, then you will be interested in our Apprentice Program.  We run what has been used as a model for other locals' programs.   It is a 3-year program geared to give participants a good background on the basics of our trade, and emphasis on some special skills such as sound reinforcement, theatrical electrics, theatrical carpentry, and video/projection.  Applications for the Apprentice Program are accepted the first full week of June each year.

If you wish to sign up for referrals through our hiring hall, please come by the Union office anytime Monday - Thursday, from 9a - 4p, to fill out the appropriate paperwork.  We need to see your driver's license or other picture ID along with your social security card or birth certificate.  If you have an unexpired passport, this works for both documents.  There are other types of documentation that can be used, but these are the most common.  We have to prove that you are eligible to work in the United States by federal law.  Please bring your vaccination card with you, as most of our employers require you to be fully vaccinated.

If you are interested in having union representation, along with union benefits and wages, then call our office at (317) 638-3226.
